In times of acute recession, be it 1936 or 2011, it is working class communities which face the greatest hardships. Job losses, restricted access to education, poor housing, cuts to health provision and local service, youth unemployment and racism affect us all.

For these reasons the battle of Cable Street was an inspiration - yes it was militant, even violent - but above all, it showed that communities can prevail over adversity when they stick together, even more so when times are hard.

The number of organisations involved is rising all the time and you can find out more about the Cable Street 75 Group and apply to become part of the Group by contacting us here.

Our new 6-page leaflet is avaliable here; if you'd like to receive some copies from us for distribution, contact us.

The Cable Street Group is also running a series of events and exhibitions to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Cable Street after the march. Their leaflet is available here . Also see our events page.
